Vassilis S. Moustakis

 V.S. Moustakis is a Professor of Operations Management at the Technical University of Crete (TUC), School of Production Engineering and Management (DPEM) and member of the TUC Board. He served as Researcher and Principal Investigator at the Institute of Computer Science, Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH). Since 2003 he is cooperating with the Postgraduate Program in Systems Engineering and Management (SEM) at the Democritus University of Thrace. Since October 2010 is Tutor and Academic Coordinator at the Open University of Greece in the subject domain of Management. He has established the Management Systems Laboratory (ManLab) at TUC in 1986 and since then he has been the Lab Director. Between 1984 and 1985 he was Assistant Research Professor at the George Washington University (GWU), School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) and between 1980 and 1984 he was Adjunct Assistant Professor at GWU / SEAS. In 1997-1999 he was the Chairman of the DPEM / TUC and between 1996 and 1999 he served on the Research Committee of TUC. He specializes in entrepreneurial management, management of innovation and creativity and information systems.


He has supervised 10 completed PhD theses at the DPEM / TUC in the areas of Management of Information Technology, Entrepreneurship and Machine Learning. His publication record includes about 140 scientific papers and chapter contributions. He holds a Doctor of Science (DSc) degree in Engineering Management from the George Washington University – GWU – USA (May 1984), a Master in Engineering Management from GWU (May 1980) and a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Patras – Greece (August 1978). He is the recipient of two awards from the American Association of Cost Engineers (AACE), and award from the Greek Chamber of Engineers and of an award from the Democritus University of Thrace for excellence in teaching.
